1. Fukuyama Castle
Fukuyama City is a city in the eastern part of Hiroshima Prefecture.
Fukuyama Castle, located right next to Fukuyama Station, is known as the castle closest to the Shinkansen station in Japan.
It is sometimes lit up at night.
A white-walled castle appears in the jet-black night sky.
The inside of Fukuyama Castle is an exhibition hall.
On the day I visited, armor was also on display.
This armor was worn by Katsunari Mizuno, the first lord of the Fukuyama domain, during the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600. The whole is finished with brown lacquer, and together with the helmet planted with bear hair, it conveys a frightening atmosphere.
Visitors can also experience horseback riding and firearms using digital technology.
I held a firearm for the first time and was told that it is half the weight of a real one.
2. Fukuyama Automobile and Clock Museum
Many old cars such as the 1915 Model T Ford and Datsun from the 1930s, Japanese clocks from the Edo period, and old clocks from Japan and overseas are on display.
All holdings are private collections.
With some exceptions, it is possible to sit in a car seat.
3. Fukuyama City Zoo
It is a public zoo in a natural environment.
There are 27 mammals, 22 birds, and 9 reptiles. (As of April 2023)
The cassowary, which is said to be the most dangerous bird in the world, was also on display.
