About us
TERACE-ya 照ラス屋
Origin of the store name
Amaterasu Omikami is the highest of the eight million deities that appear in the mythology on which kagura dances and plays are based, and her name means "great god who illuminates the sky(天ヲ照ラス偉大ナ神)", and she is also considered the sun goddess.
Our store is named after "terasu(TETACE)", the name of Amaterasu Omikami.
In addition to this, "Noh masks," which have influenced some kagura masks, have a technique that changes the expression of the masks depending on the angle at which they are shown.
Turning the mask slightly upward to express happiness and joy is called "terasu (TERACE 照ラス,Meaning: to illuminate)," while tilting it downward to express sadness and loneliness is called "kumorasu (曇ラス,Meaning: to cloud)".
This "terasu" is also the origin of the store's name.
The above figures show kagura masks photographed from "kumorasu (曇ラス)" and ""terasu (TERACE 照ラス)" angles. The same mask can express different emotions depending on the angle it is shown.
We hope that the products TERACE-ya brings to you will brightly illuminate (照ラス) your life.
