"Yamakita no Omineiri" is a folk performing art handed down in the Kyowa district of Yamakita-cho, Kanagawa Prefecture.
"Omineiri'' means training in the mountains, and is thought to be a Shugendo ritual turned into a performing arts.
There are 81 members and 29 different roles. Local people now gather at Kyowa Elementary School, perform all the songs and dances in the schoolyard, then march to Shinmei Shrine and perform again in front of the shrine.
It is a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property and is listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage as one of the "Furyu-odori" dances.
