The day after watching the night kagura, I went to see the kagura competition in which multiple groups participated.
A total of 12 groups will appear, and it will be a long performance from 9:00 to 18:00.
Each group's standard performance will be performed in order.
Even within the same Iwami Kagura group, the costumes, masks, dances, and performances of each group are unique, and we were able to enjoy the differences.
The final performance is a spectacular performance featuring 30 giant snakes. A large number of giant snakes filled the stage, making it a fitting finale for the finale of the tournament.
The expanding and contracting serpent is made in the same way as a lantern, and is also called a chochin snake dome. The serpentine is about 17 meters long and weighs about 10 kilograms.
At the venue, Iwami Kagura costumes were also displayed.
It features three-dimensional embroidery that uses a lot of gold thread and dynamic designs of dragons and lions.
