Western Kagawa Prefecture

This is a course for sightseeing in the western part of Kagawa Prefecture.

1. Hounenike Entei (豊稔池堰堤)

Hounenike(豊稔池) Dam is Japan's oldest extant masonry multiple arch dam.
The dam, which has been exposed to the wind and rain for many years, has a stately atmosphere that makes you think of an ancient European castle in the Middle Ages.
It is a concrete structure with a bank length of 145.5m and a bank height of 30.4m.

 

2.Unpenji Temple (雲辺寺)

Unpenji Temple is the 66th temple on the Shikoku Pilgrimage. It is located at the highest peak among the sacred sites of Shikoku.
When going to Unpenji from Kagawa Prefecture, you can use the ropeway.
There is a park at the top of the mountain with swings and playground equipment.

3. Kagawa Canal Memorial Park (香川用水記念公園)
Since Kagawa Prefecture has little rainfall, rainmaking events have been held since ancient times, and many reservoirs have been built.
In recent years, with the cooperation of neighboring prefectures, the Kagawa Canal (香川用水) was created, which has helped alleviate water shortages.
This park was created to convey the history and benefits of the Kagawa Canal to future generations.

The vast grounds are equipped with equipment that allows you to understand the mechanism of dams and water mills while touching water and nature.
The center of the building is decorated with a giant dragon model. It is the dragon god who controls the rain.

4. Ayugaeri Falls (鮎返りの滝)
It's a very small waterfall, but it's in a rich natural environment, and it's a healing space.

5. Sanuki Mannou National Government Park (国営讃岐まんのう公園)
This is a park with a vast grounds, with seasonal flowers, waterfalls, lawn squares, and other natural scenery. . There are also cycling trails and walking trails.
There is also an object decorated with the theme of the dragon god here.
