These are masks of Aooni and Otafuku (Okame) that appear in many kagura, Japanese festivals and Japanese folktales.

These papier-mache kagura masks are handmade from paper clay made from used paper. The masks are delivered with the primer coating with gofun (a type of powdered pigment) and the drying process completed, so you can experience painting the face with paints right away. Please refer to the finished product and the manual while painting.

Paints necessary for painting are not included in the set because they cannot be transported.

Masks for painting are delivered with gofun, a base coating, already applied. Please paint with watercolors or acrylics.

This mask is for decoration. You can hang the string attached to the top of the mask on a pin or hook to decorate it. If you wear it and use it, you need to attach a string yourself.

All masks are handmade. No two masks are exactly alike. Please note that there may be slight differences between the photo and the actual product.

Manuals are available in English, French, and Japanese.
