"Hamaguriba" is a thin board on which a flower vase is placed. It is so named because the edge of the wood is rounded like a clam shell.
According to the rules of the tea ceremony, when placing a vase other than a basket on the tatami floor of the tokonoma alcove, a thin board must be placed underneath the vase.
Hamaguriba is a versatile thin board that is used for ceramic, wooden, and bamboo vases.

Special tools and advanced woodworking techniques are required to make Hamaguriba. Furthermore, traditional techniques are also required to make the traditional craft of kumiko.
Works that combine these two techniques are rare. This is the only cedar Hamaguriba we currently carry in our store.
This thin board is made from solid cedar and has natural grain and knots, allowing you to enjoy an expressive, one-of-a-kind pattern.

It can be used not only as a tea ceremony utensil mat, but also as a mat for displaying ornaments.
The unique yet calm color tones blend beautifully with ornaments and enhance the overall impression.
Depending on your ideas, it can be used in a variety of situations.

Please note that as this is natural wood, there may be natural color unevenness.
When removing dirt, wipe off the dirt without using water and then wipe with a dry cloth.
