This is a wooden carved mask used in Bitchu Kagura, a dance that is an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Japan.
This demon-like mask represents Takeminakata no Mikoto, a powerful god who appears in Japanese mythology.
You can display it in your room as a talisman, or you can wear it while dancing.

These authentic masks can be used in Kagura dances, and are carved by a master craftsman with 45 years of experience, using precious paulownia wood that has been dried for more than 10 years.
The masks are painted with lacquer paint in a "glossy finish," which requires 15 coats of primer and 15 coats of finish. The work is finished slowly and carefully, giving it a beautiful and dignified appearance.

The eyes are made of 5mm-thick brass and polished carefully, so they shine and reflect the light, creating a lively expression.
