Hamaguriba is a thin board used to place a flower vase.  It is so named because the edge of the wood is rounded like a clam.

As a rule of the tea ceremony, when placing a vase other than a basket on a tatami floor, a thin board is placed under the vase.

Hamaguriba is used for ceramic vases and wooden or bamboo vases.

Special tools and advanced woodworking techniques are required to make Hamaguriba. Furthermore, traditional techniques are also required to make Kumiko craft, a traditional craft.

Works that combine these two techniques are rare. Our shop currently only carries this one piece.

The back of the board is branded with a name indicating that it is a work by a Japanese woodworker.

We paid particular attention to the type of wood used to make this board, so that it can be widely used not only as a tea ceremony board, but also as a board for displaying seasonal objects.

The color and grain of the wood are easy to harmonize with Western interiors as well as Japanese dolls and folk crafts.

Depending on your ideas, it can be used in a variety of situations.

Please note that as this is made of natural wood, there may be natural variations in color.
To remove dirt, wipe off the dirt without using water, then wipe with a dry cloth.
